or somewhere in between.
The details may differ,
but the truth is the same:
our lives are chapters
written in ink we didn’t always choose.

But what matters most
is not the plot twists we survived,
nor the scars we collected,
nor the people who tried
to write their versions of us
into our margins.

What matters
is who we allow to hold the pen.

For too long,
I let others carve their truths into me
their judgments,
their lies,
their expectations,
their versions of who I should be
and who I could never become.

I handed over authorship
like a child giving away candy,
not realizing the power
I was placing in careless hands.

But this is my story.
My life.
My truth.

No one else has earned the right
to write it for me.

So, I take the pen back
shaking,
brave,
unsure,
but determined.

I reclaim every chapter
they tried to erase.
I rewrite every sentence
they tried to twist.
I underline every moment
I survived
when the world expected me
to break.

The pen is in my hand now.
And the story I write next
will not be borrowed,
silenced,
or shaped by someone else’s comfort.

It will be mine
unfiltered,
unapologetic,
and true.
